Petition Action

To make mask effectively compulsory in all public indoor spaces

Petition Details

Make the obligation effectively enforceable through the following:

1. Exemption to be issued by a GP or other medical authority
2. Unequivocally checkable certificates - i.e., a scan code through an NHS app
3. Exemptees to be required to wear a face shield

Additional Information

Adherence to SCV2-prevention rules has been sub-optimal so far. This measure would:

1. Help to contain the spread of Sars-Cov-2;

2. Introduce a sense of urgency and inescapability from rules - which might psychologically spillover to other areas of distancing that are more difficult to enforce;

3. Foster a much needed sense of duty, fairness and community in the population;

4. Allow Britain to set an example of efficiency and pragmatism, leading the way globally, as per its best tradition.
