Petition Details

Ensure affordability is not a barrier to participating online.

A recent study (18/12/2020) by Ofcom identified nearly one in five (19%) reported at least one affordability issue with their communications services in the last month, corresponding to around 4.7 million households.

Additional Information

The government has introduced a third lockdown with education and many other services moving entirely online.

This will disadvantage those from poorer backgrounds and so it is vital the government works with providers to give immediate support.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

We're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do.

You may wish to sign one of these petitions:

Or you could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
