Cancel all university assignments & exams
Calling for all assignments and exams to be postponed or cancelled until after the pandemic. The mental health of students is at an all time low and taking away the stress of being having to complete exams without sufficient learning will be appreciated by many.
PM Boris Johnson has set for GCSE’s & A-levels to be cancelled for the second year running since it wouldn’t be ‘ possible or fair ‘. If it is not ‘possible’ for students to sit GCSE’s, why is it ok for those at university to? And be expected to deliver sufficient coursework throughout the year, as well as paying £9250 in tutition?! That’s without accommodation rent. This year alone will put students in around £13000 of loan and debt for a zoom call twice a week that is considered to be ‘high quality learning’? what about those going into medicine, paramedics, nursing, midwifery?? All of those KEY WORKERS that we need at this time, that have dedicated their days to go out into hospitals or high risk areas and on top of that need to complete assignments.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Decisions about university teaching, assessments and exams are a matter for individual universities, not the UK Government or Parliament.
If you have concerns about your university's arrangements for teaching and assessment you should raise these with your university or the Office for Students, which regulates the higher education sector.
We understand that the current situation is stressful for many people, including students. Student Minds, a mental health charity for students, is collating guidance and developing resources to support students experiencing stress as a result of the current situation, which you may find useful: www.studentminds.org.uk/coronavirus.html
