NHS 111 Clinical Advisers Support For Pharmacists

Additional Information

Pharmacists as a healthcare profession deliver care to millions of members of the public each year on the High Street, Hospitals, GP Practices, Prisons and in the HM Forces.

We call on the DoH to support the inclusion of pharmacists as core healthcare professionals for enhanced roles and have equal access to NHS 111 clinical adviser roles.

We assert that excluding pharmacists from NHS 111 clinical advisers is an unacceptable status quo for a profession which is Masters Degree Qualified, has expertise in many therapeutic areas and independent prescribing roles.

Moreover, pharmacists should be given equal core professional status to nurses, paramedics and GPs in delivering the NHS 111 as members of the wider primary care multi-professional teams.
