Remove children with EHCPs from list of vulnerable children

Petition Details

Children with SEN should not all be categorised as Vulnerable, just because a child has an EHCP it does NOT make that child Vulnerable. 'Vulnerable' should mean a child on the in-need register, on a child protection plan or a looked after child. This does not categorise every child with an EHCP.

Additional Information

The government need to recognise and change COVID-19 guidance that a child that has an EHCP does not automatically mean that a child is Vulnerable. These two are two completely different things. A child can have an EHCP and not be classed as Vulnerable. Vulnerable is where a child is on a child protection plan, a looked after child or a child on the in need register. This does not categorise all children with an Educational Health Care Plan (EHCP).
