Make it an offence to create or share a news article with a misleading headline.
Misleading headlines are helping to spread false information on social media.
When a news site posts an article with a headline 'Portuguese nurse dies two days after taking Pfizer-boNTech's corroavirus vaccine...' the article can be shared on social media with only the headline visible.
Help prevent the sharing of false information.
Articles are be shared via social media with only part of the headline visible and the rest of the article such as the standfirst or body not displayed.
Modern devices often display just the first 51 to 73 characters of a headline. The section of the headline should not mislead the reader.
