Replace teacher assessments with course work for GCSEs and A levels

Petition Details

Many students relied on exams as the government assured us that we would take our GCSEs and A levels this year. Course work will allow teachers and exam boards to have a clear picture of a students academic ability.

Additional Information

As students education has been affected and disrupted by coronavirus, the government had no choice but to cancel exams and use “teacher assessments.” Teacher assessments will most probably rely on mocks/exams. This will not be fairest way to judge the students performance as students have missed out on six months of their learning.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

We understand that you want students to be judged on coursework, but this would still need to be assessed by a teacher to provide students with a grade.

We have published the following petition, which you might like to sign:

Grade GCSEs and A-levels on coursework, with no exams, from 2021 onwards: petition.parliament.uk/petitions/562814
