Petition Action

Allow partners/fathers in for all maternity appointments and admissions.

Petition Details

I want the government to change the rules to allow partners/fathers to come to all maternity appointments and when the lady is admitted to the hospital due to maternity.

Additional Information

I am following the current guidelines closely as I am due to give birth on the 4th of February 2021 and currently my husband is not allowed to attend any appointments. This means that my husband won't get to have the same experience as he would have had without the restrictions.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Decisions about visitors are a matter for the NHS, not the Government or House of Commons.

On 5 June last year, the NHS lifted its suspension on hospital visiting, including for antenatal appointments, scans and birth. This means that decisions about visiting are for individual hospitals and NHS trusts. You should check with your local hospital and maternity team for their policy on visitors attending antenatal appointments, including scans.
