Petition Action

Refund fees for private candidates who were supposed to sit exams in this year

Petition Details

Private candidates who are learning/revising at home who do not attend a school or college and had to pay a local centre to sit their exams in the summer, should get a refund as they no longer require the services of the centres/invigilators or the examiners.

Additional Information

With Private candidates paying around anywhere from £175- £400+ per subject and now not even having to sit the exams, the government should work with the exam boards to find a compromise and refund the fees.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Refunds for private exam candidates are for exam centres, not the UK Government or Parliament.

You could start a new petition asking for the Government to reimburse private exam candidates who have been unable to get a refund, if that's something that you'd like to happen.

Please note that you'll need to use your full name if you start a new petition.
