Put in place a safety net for University Students grades

Petition Details

Call on parliament to listen to and raise the concerns of University students regarding being expected to achieve the same results and being assessed as if under normal circumstances. Despite University students not receiving the same quality of education as normal due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Additional Information

Many students at Universities across the country do not feel under the current situation they can achieve the grades they believe they can achieve. This is due to many reasons such as limited quality of teaching, slower response in support with assessments due to being online. As well as changes to many students assessments because they can not be done in the current circumstances. Furthermore, students are struggling with access to libraries, books and computers to help complete their work.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Decisions about university teaching, assessments and exams are a matter for individual universities, not the UK Government or Parliament.

If you have concerns about your university's arrangements for teaching and assessment you should raise these with your university or the Office for Students, which regulates the higher education sector.

We understand that the current situation is stressful for many people, including students. Student Minds, a mental health charity for students, is collating guidance and developing resources to support students experiencing stress as a result of the current situation, which you may find useful: www.studentminds.org.uk/coronavirus.html
