Clemency for Marine Sgt A
Marine Sgt A was convicted of murder and awaits sentence.
Can we show clemency for a man who by his very presence in Afghanistan was in a preparedness to sacrifice his own life if need be, for his friends and his country.
The Latin for a pardon can mean 'To give wholeheartedly' (How else does a man offer his life for any cause but wholeheartedly?) As Marine Sgt A had been doing for the duration of his tour until his terrible lapse of decency.
Lives had already been traded by that incident. He has voiced his remorse.
For what he was prepared to give up for his country can we at least show some heart by extending clemency if there is any avenue by which it can be considered?
