Cancel Pre-U exams June 2021
Year 13 students taking Pre-U exams have missed 4 months of vital learning last year and are now missing at least another 2 months this year, putting them at the same disadvantage as A Level students. Due to serious gaps in our learning, we ask that the government cancels the Pre-U June 2021 exams.
Whether suffering from lack of access to online resources, mental health issues, attention disorders, or overall lack of motivation, pre u students are at the same disadvantage as A Level students yet still face the impossible challenge of exams going ahead. This means that thousands of students across the UK will be tested unfairly while A-Level students have been given a fair alternative to exams, putting Pre-U students at a huge disadvantage that will affect all opportunities in their lives.
You can't sign this petition because it was rejected. But you can still comment on it here at Repetition.me!
The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Decisions about courses and assessments that are delivered by independent educational institutions, as opposed to state schools, are a matter for individual exam boards and educational institutions, not the Government or House of Commons.
We could accept a petition calling for the Government to prohibit any exams from taking place during the Covid-19 outbreak, if that is something you want to happen.
We understand that the current situation is stressful for many people, including students. Student Minds, a mental health charity for students, is collating guidance and developing resources to support students experiencing stress as a result of the current situation, which you may find useful: www.studentminds.org.uk/coronavirus.html
