Cancel International Examinations for 2021
International exam boards such as CIE have not been forced by the government to cancel their exams. They have recently announced that students in the UK will be sitting their exams at the normal time on the full syllabus. The government should stop this from happening by cancelling these exams.
With the recent and past lockdowns preventing students from being in school and getting proper education, taking these exams will be extremely difficult. As it is international, UK students are competing against more advantaged students in other countries. Considering last years were cancelled at a much better point than students are currently in it is only fitting to at least reduce the courses or postpone the exams. These exams are crucial for many so taking them after this past year is unfair

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Decisions about courses and assessments that are delivered by independent educational institutions, as opposed to state schools, are a matter for individual exam boards and educational institutions, not the Government or House of Commons.
We could accept a petition calling for the Government to prohibit any exams from taking place during the Covid-19 outbreak, if that is something you want to happen.
We understand that the current situation is stressful for many people, including students. Student Minds, a mental health charity for students, is collating guidance and developing resources to support students experiencing stress as a result of the current situation, which you may find useful: www.studentminds.org.uk/coronavirus.html
