Petition Action

Cancel IGCSE exams

Petition Details

IGCSE exams should be cancelled and should be based on calculated grades or teachers assessments

Additional Information

First, being that many of the students have missed ridiculous amounts of time due to online lessons, and it is just incredibly unfair for them to go on. Not only did British students study poorly, but International students had it worse, considering that many did not even return to schools, being too scared to. It is also very unfair for regular GCSEs to be cancelled and not the international grades; we are human too! Secondly, CIE & Edexcel don't care about students mental health (too long)...

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Decisions about courses and assessments that are delivered by independent educational institutions, as opposed to state schools, are a matter for individual exam boards and educational institutions, not the Government or House of Commons.

We could accept a petition calling for the Government to prohibit any exams from taking place during the Covid-19 outbreak, if that is something you want to happen.

We understand that the current situation is stressful for many people, including students. Student Minds, a mental health charity for students, is collating guidance and developing resources to support students experiencing stress as a result of the current situation, which you may find useful: www.studentminds.org.uk/coronavirus.html
