Cancel IGCSE exams for summer 2021
The government needs to cancel iGCSE’s along with GCSE’s to prevent inequality amongst results. To make the 2021 results fair to all students, everyone in the UK should undergo the same testing as each other.
Due to COVID-19, year 11 students have missed out on being taught up to half of their courses in person, which they are then expected to learn online, where it has proved learning is not as effective.
The government has already decided that they are cancelling the 2021 series of exams for current year 11 students undertaking the GCSE, and give them grades predicted by their teachers who know them and their abilities. IGCSE students should be given the same opportunity.
Thank you.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Decisions about courses and assessments that are delivered by independent educational institutions, as opposed to state schools, are a matter for individual exam boards and educational institutions, not the Government or House of Commons.
We could accept a petition calling for the Government to prohibit any exams from taking place during the Covid-19 outbreak, if that is something you want to happen.
We understand that the current situation is stressful for many people, including students. Student Minds, a mental health charity for students, is collating guidance and developing resources to support students experiencing stress as a result of the current situation, which you may find useful: www.studentminds.org.uk/coronavirus.html
