Petition Action

Allow the public to report those who flaunt Covid 19 rules on social media.

Petition Details

The public should be able to report social media users directly through platforms such as Facebook & Instagram who clearly breach covid 19 rules. Particularly social media users who post breaches in the 'stories' features that expire after 24 hours on both these platforms.

Additional Information

The police should have access to these reports and where possible be able to act on them. Fines should be brought in for those who flaunt the rules on their social media.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

We can't accept your petition because the UK Government aren't responsible for the issue you raise. This would be a matter for social media platforms.

Members of the public can already report breaches of the coronavirus restrictions online: www.police.uk/tua/tell-us-about/c19/v7/tell-us-about-a-possible-breach-of-coronavirus-covid-19-measures/
