Allow learner drivers to practise with members of their own household
Learner drivers in Wales and Scotland are allowed to practise driving with members of their own household as part of an essential journey and we would like this to be the case in England too.
Now is an ideal time for learner drivers to be learning - people have more time to take them out and the roads are much quieter. Some learners have had theory and practical tests cancelled multiple times and if they do not keep practising they need many more lessons at a much greater expense, which many cannot afford.
You can't sign this petition because it was rejected. But you can still comment on it here at Repetition.me!
The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Under current Government guidance, you can practise driving with members of your household or support bubble. It must be travel for work, education or other essential journeys: www.gov.uk/driving-lessons-learning-to-drive/practising-with-family-or-friends
We have published the following petition, which you might like to sign:
Allow learner drivers to go out and drive with people from their household: petition.parliament.uk/petitions/559063
