Petition Action

Ban neonicotinoid thiamethoxam (toxic to bees) to treat sugar beet seed.

Petition Details

Debate the use of this toxic pesticide which will reduce the bee population; the bee population is already being decimated. Bees are crucial for pollination and are key part of food webs and biodiversity. They are ‘the canary in the coal mine', they tell us about the health of the wider environment.

Additional Information

The Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations clearly states bees are vital to our food production and eco systems: http://www.fao.org/3/i9527en/i9527en.pdf
