Require University Libraries to close in lockdown
The Department for Education should require Higher Education libraries to close during lockdown. Under the latest guidelines, Higher Education libraries are permitted to open in lockdown, with no restrictions on opening hours, allowing access for hundreds of people.
Allowing university libraries to remain open undermines efforts to prevent people from mixing, and is inconsistent with advice to act as if we all have the virus. To protect the NHS and each other, the Government must require University libraries close during lockdown.
