Reverse the approval for farmers in the UK to use a harmful pesticide for bees.
Find an alternative solution to the pesticide product (containing neonicotinoid thiamethoxam) which has been given a ‘limited and controlled’ emergency authorisation for farmers to use in the UK treatment of sugar beet seed in 2021.
The Government is aware of the clear harm that neonicotinoid pesticides cause to bees and other pollinators and just 3 years ago supported restrictions on them across the European Union. Neonicotinoids pose a significant environmental risk – particularly to our bees and other pollinators – and over the last decade hundreds of thousands of people across the UK have called for better protection of our bees, and for these highly toxic pesticides to be banned.
