I would like the NHS to receive the George Cross.
Recognise the bravery of all the staff in the NHS by awarding them the George Cross.
The Government, on behalf of the entire population, should recognise the gallantry and heroism of all the staff within the NHS across the entire nation.
There are 1000's of individuals going above and beyond the call of duty and I think that the entire nation would like to show their appreciation and awarding the NHS with the George Cross on behalf of the Nation would go some way in showing it's admiration and respect for the struggles that the NHS staff are facing during this awful pandemic.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
We cannot accept petitions that call for specific awards or honours, such as the George Cross, to be given to individuals or organisations, because we can only accept petitions about matters for which the Government or Parliament are responsible.
There is an independent process for considering nominations for awards and honours, including the George Cross, and advising the Queen on granting these, so it is not something the Government or Parliament can do.
Information about Civilian gallantry is available here: www.gov.uk/guidance/civilian-gallantry-operation#the-george-cross-committee
And details of how to nominate someone for an honour or award are available here: www.gov.uk/honours/recommend-bravery-award
