Petition Action

Stop abusive partners using the social services as a form of coercive control.

Petition Details

Make victims of domestic abuse not suffer further heartache and stigma by latent fathers who are hell bent on punishment as oppose to mutual parenting and respect. For the social services to not further stunt the speaking out of coercive control by punishing the victim and often removing children.

Additional Information

In most cases the social services work against both parents if domestic violence has taken place often removing children despite children have strong attachments to both perpetrators and victim. In many cases children’s law courts have made wrongful decisions and awarded custody to fathers who have used the social services to inflict further pain and control upon their partner. Children often in these outcomes retort to self harm, cptsd, eating disorders, and other destructive behaviours.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

We understand that you are concerned about the involvement in social services in child arrangements about the breakdown of a relationship, but we're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do.

Anyone can contact social services if they have concerns about the welfare of a child, and it is up to individual social services departments, and potentially the courts, to decide what action to take in individual cases.

If you are unhappy with the approach taken by your local child social services team, you can complain about this. You might find the Local Government and Social Care Ombudsman’s guidance on complaining about child social services helpful: www.lgo.org.uk/make-a-complaint/fact-sheets/social-care/children-s-care-services

If a court has made decisions about the care of your child and you wish to challenge this, you should seek legal advice.
