Hold an inquiry into contracts providing relief food packages
It is evident that the food packages provided to families, estimated at £30, are below this level of Government provided funding. How have these contracts been awarded, and to whom? What are the benchmarks being used to assess the value of food being provided?
This deserves a public inquiry at a time when Government spending is very high responding to the COVID-19 situation. In the future, there may be allegations that some companies are "profiteering"; in the past this has led to embarrassment and recriminations. When the average person in the UK is making sacrifices, this situation needs to be rectified.
