1 day news ban across all platforms for reporting anything relating to COVID 19
I would like parliament to debate whether, in the interest of public health, a 1 day reporting ban on the COVID 19 pandemic would improve the country’s mental health
For the past 10 months our news companies have consistently reported the daily infection rates and deaths of the pandemic. This, associated with restrictions put in place in tiers and lockdowns, have exacerbated the deterioration of existing mental health conditions and created new mental health crisis’ in people who were previously undiagnosed. There is a significant risk of information overload, there are other things happening in the world that could be reported. The nation requires respite.
