Grant general and emergency veterinary staff Key Worker status

Petition Details

Make general and emergency staff in the veterinary industry Key Workers. Grant them Key Worker status, allowing childcare and access to Covid-19 vaccination to protect themselves.

Additional Information

The veterinary industry has necessarily been working right through the pandemic, risking their health for the needs of their clients and animal welfare.

The industry is essential, it cannot close and the majority of veterinary staff cannot work from home. The veterinary industry has put the needs of animals first throughout the pandemic.

Veterinary staff deserve Key Worker status, so that their children can be sent to school along with the children of other Key Workers. Without this, the industry is quickly crippled and animals will not get the treatment they need.

Veterinary staff are exposed to the public every day as part of their role, and should also be considered for prioritised access to Covid-19 vaccination.
