Prevent digital vaccination passports from being implemented.
With vaccination against COVID-19 being well under way in the UK, the question of “digital vaccination passports” has arisen. This petition requests that parliament prevent digital vaccination passports being mandated for the access of mass gatherings, travel, hospitality, etc,
The notion of vaccination passports has invited outrage from those fighting to protect civil liberties. Silkie Carlo argues that they provide the “backbone” of an authoritarian digital ID system, with personal information potentially being held at the fingertips of authority. Digital vaccination passports set precedents for the curtailment of privacy and free movement, a tactic diagnostic of one-party regimes like China and inexcusable in a democratic, free society.
