Make the expansion of BAME leadership roles in each UK University compulsory.
Address the issue of institutional racism in UK Universities by introducing legislation that requires a specific quota of managerial positions to be held by BAME individuals while making equality and diversity and unconscious bias training to University staff mandatory.
BAME students and lecturers across the country are being discriminated against and their complaints are not being heard. Therefore the best way to address this issue is to put legislation in place that prevents this discrimination and ignorance occurring in the future. By making leadership roles in UK Universities more accessible to BAME individuals the BAME community will have influential representatives that can address issues more productively and thus make more of an impact.
