Petition Action

Crack down on social media influencers flouting the coronavirus rules.

Petition Details

Too many social media influencers are going abroad to Dubai for ‘work’ purposes, yet don’t have any proof of them working. If a member of the public were to go, they would be reprimanded, so how come influencers are allowed to go and break the rules?

Additional Information

Proof of work commitments provided before travel is granted.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action. We're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do.

Influencers are subject to all of the same rules and regulations as other people, and it would be up to the police or Crown Prosecution Service to investigate or prosecute any alleged breaches of Covid-19 restrictions.

You could start a petition calling for individuals to have to apply to the Government for permission to travel, including providing proof of work commitments before permission is granted, if that's something you'd like to see happen.
