Reopen business premises providing essential medical treatments during lockdown
I call on the government to reopen businesses providing essential medical treatments such as osteopathy, acupuncture and massage therapy to people with a clinical or medical need.
As someone who suffers from a debilitating condition, regular medical treatments are essential for me to lead as normal a life as possible.
I suffer with Arthritis, Fibromyalgia, severe anxiety, depression and suicidal thoughts.
My therapist and the medically qualified staff they employ tailor every treatment specifically to each client they see.
Money from my PIP award is used to pay for these treatments. I urge Parliament to allow these businesses to reopen to benefit those in need.
You can't sign this petition because it was rejected. But you can still comment on it here at Repetition.me!
The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Businesses providing dental services, opticians, audiology services, chiropody, chiropractors, osteopaths and other medical or health services, including services relating to mental health are allowed to remain open during the current national lockdown: www.gov.uk/government/publications/further-businesses-and-premises-to-close/closing-certain-businesses-and-venues-in-england
The Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council has stated that it believes this means that its registrants in England meet the definition of “other…health services, including services relating to mental health”, and can therefore continue to practice: www.cnhc.org.uk/working-during-covid-19-latest-updates
It is up to indiviudal businesses to decide whether they are exempt under the above rules, and therefore whether to open.
If you want businesses that do not offer health services to be exempted from requirements to close we could accept a petition requesting this, but it would need to be clear what businesses you want to be exempted, and that they are not already covered by existing exemptions.
