Public inquiry into why international travel was not suspended due to Covid-19
The Government should hold a public inquiry into why international travel was not suspended due to Covid-19. This should investigate who made decisions on this issue and why they were made, including what advice was provided to inform decisions.
The suspension of air travel could have and still could save lives. It could have reduced the impact on the economy due to less transmission, and it could have reduced the strain seen on the NHS.
Tens of millions of people's lives have been impacted. If the impact of this pandemic could have been reduced in the UK by limiting international travel, we need to know why decisions were taken, and who is responsible.
