Extend legislation on domestic abuse to make parental alienation an offence
We believe it is imperative that parental alienation is recognised in law as domestic abuse, giving courts and government agencies the authority to intervene to protect us as safe and loving parents from the abusive act of the weaponisation of our children against us by an abusive partner.
This legislation is urgently needed because currently courts and government agencies do not have the power to protect us from "the unjustified resistance or hostility from a child towards them as a result of psychological manipulation by the other parent.” (Cafcass). As parents, we have all witnessed the devastating long-term effect of PA on our children. We are invariably voiceless and powerless to protect them. This is in itself a form of emotional and psychological abuse with which we have to live with 24/7. The law must protect our children from being used as a weapon of war by one parent against the other, whether mother or father, as this is one of the worst form of domestic abuse.
