Tax Foreign Vehicles
When driving in Austria and Switzerland, we had to pay a tax and there were hefty on the spot penalties for not having done so.
This is something the UK government could easily introduce; with only ferry/Eurostar access, there could be machines on board selling licences.
Whilst some issues are politically sensitive and MPs worry about losing voters, this could be supported across the board, why not?; it would be a simple, justifiable way of creating much-needed revenue for our roads, rather than selling them to foreigners who then charge us a toll to use them.
While researching this, I came across blogs about foreign cars - allowed to be in this country for six months without registration - which have not been registered (MoT/insurance?) for three years and the DVLA/police do nothing about it. The introduction of the 'entry' tax would help to stop this.
Please support, we are giving too much away in this country!
