Create Mental Health Emergency support - add dedicated option to 999 or 111.
We need reform for the mental health services via the NHS. We need more than social movements. We need easier access to emergency mental health care. There should be specific access via 111 or 999 to help those in a mental health emergency - with joined up working between agencies.
The pandemic & current restrictions have had an adverse effect on many people’s mental health and amplified the plight of those already suffering. There is an unprecedented rise in feelings of isolation, worry & financial hardship.
It is not acceptable that those suffering should have to find a charity to call in an emergency, when they may not have the mental capacity to do so. It is abhorrent that so many people, are not helped, causing mental suffering to be terminal, and lead to suicide.
You can't sign this petition because it was rejected. But you can still comment on it here at Repetition.me!
The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
999 can already take calls relating to mental health emergencies, so we're not sure whether you want a new emergency service that can be called out to respond to these calls or something else.
