Petition Action

Make pet microchip scanning a statutory requirement for vets, etc.

Petition Details

Review the current provisions in law requiring the checking of pet microchipping when a pet is admitted for care, treatment or other with respect to changing the law to ensure all pets are scanned for determination of ownership, whether missing or stolen.

Additional Information

With the increase in dog ownership during CV19 lockdowns and the increase in dog theft crime additional measures are required to use the current microchipping of pets to ensure there is a better chance of recovering a beloved pet; this should be put in law across a number of agencies (public, private & charities). These pets are an important part of our CV19 / post-CV19 life’s, are much loved and been invested in by owners.
