Petition Action

Scrap zero hour and Flexi working contracts

Petition Details

Bring an end to Zero hour and flexi hour contracts for employees

Additional Information

Flexible Contracts you`ll be contracted for say 5 hours a week, you will be made to work different hours each day (weather that be minimal hours or overtime) with many companies 24 hours or even less
Often employees either wish to work their minimum hours (often around 15-19hours) with many others wishing to have more hours, with unknown hours and unknown financial status each month causes unbelievable stress and mental strain on employees that is often reflected in health and work ethic.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

There's already a petition about this issue. We cannot accept a new petition when we already have one about a very similar issue.

You are more likely to get action on this issue if you sign and share a single petition.

You may wish to sign this petition calling for a similar action: petition.parliament.uk/petitions/574786

Your petition refers to workers on some contracts being required to work hours offered, but workers on zero or flexible contracts are not required to work additional hours offered.

If you want the Government to prohibit overtime, so that workers can only work the number of hours they are contracted for, we could accept a petition requesting this.
