Petition Action

Give consent to any request for a Scottish Independence Referendum

Petition Details

The UK government should follow democracy and grant a Section 30 order, if and when requested by the Scottish Government, to allow a referendum on the future of Scotland within the Union. If the UK holds true to what it believes to be democratic and just then it must seek to grant this order.

Additional Information

The UK government claims the following

- We are a Union of equal countries
- We believe in democracy
- Being part of the Union is voluntary

For the government to uphold the values it claims above then they should not refuse any request for an independence referendum. If the majority of votes in the May elections favour independence candidates this is a democratic mandate which should not be refused by the UK Government.
