Make it Law to Label Non-Religiously Slaughtered Meat Products.

Petition Details

The law states that Halal and Kosher meat must only be intended for their target market. To make matters worse, the government does not force religiously slaughtered meat companies to so label this meat when it enters the general supply chain, due to higher costs.

Additional Information

They are trying to keep the costs down, however, that means that people may be subsidising meat that is not intended for them and which some people are forbidden to eat for religious reasons.

The answer, is to turn it on its head. We call upon the government to enact a law that means all non-religiously slaughtered meat must be labelled as such. A stamp saying NRS (Not Religiously Slaughtered) would work. This would give people a choice, one not currently available.
