Award a George Cross to the NHS
In recognition of the dedication and commitment of the entire NHS personnel, particularly during the current pandemic, our nation should show our collective gratitude by awarding the organisation a George Cross.
The entire staff and volunteers of the NHS have been magnificent and unrelenting in the fight against COVID 19 for almost a year now. When this pandemic is over perhaps a way can be found to reward each of them in some tangible way. But in the immediate term our nation could show our collective gratitude by awarding the NHS a George Cross as we did previously to Malta and The Royal Ulster Constabulary. Such award would boost the morale and esteem of the whole NHS team.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
We cannot accept petitions that call for specific awards or honours, such as the George Cross, to be given to individuals or organisations, because we can only accept petitions about matters for which the Government or Parliament are responsible.
There is an independent process for considering nominations for awards and honours, including the George Cross, and advising the Queen on granting these, so it is not something the Government or Parliament can do.
