Make it law that all dogs have full genetic and health tests prior to breeding
Our dog lost his life at 15 months old. Due to more then one hereditary disease. At the time of taking him in I wasn't aware of genetic diseases. I spent 12 months battling with professional to get him diagnosed. He had neurological problems. And a bad heart. He suffered his whole short life.
There are over 600 hereditary diseases. Some inherited diseases are very rare or cause only minor suffering, but there are many inherited conditions that are extremely painful or life threatening. Some examples of inherited diseases that show particularly high levels in certain breeds are, cancer, blindness, diabetes, heart disease, skin complaints, epilepsy, hip dysplasia, deafness, neurological issues.
