Petition Action

Do more to tackle dog theft

Petition Details

Create a plan to tackle the rise in dog theft from walkers and from back gardens and buildings. Make it more difficult for van loads of stolen dogs to be transported abroad.

Additional Information

Britain’s dog owners and walkers are becoming increasingly afraid to walk their dogs on pavements, roads, footpaths and public parks. They cannot even safely let their dog in their own back garden unattended. There is clearly no deterrent to these thieves and it appears they are becoming more brazen and extreme in their tactics and attacks. Britain is supposed to be a civilised country, not one that people are becoming afraid to walk the public highways in daylight.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

We understand you'd like more to be done to tackle pet theft, but not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do.

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do, or you might like to sign some of these petitions:
