RAISE INTERNATIONAL CO-OPERATION FOR HEALTH RESEARCH
Could the UK raise international health research co-operation?
Larger scale international studies are needed.
One example is idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis:
Men are three times more likely to develop it than women why?
There are GP data bases (e.g. Nottingham) showing an eight fold increase in sufferers since 1970 - why?
Does the UK have sufficient high resolution CT scanners and trained radiologists to detect the disease?
There is a pharmaceutical race to produce drugs because the disease is becoming much more prevalent - can UK companies be better supported to develop pharmacological products?
NICE guidance has finally been produced - it is already out of date - can it be updated?
The UK needs to show leadership: support, information and research.
Credible NHS statements about new diseases :
Internet lectures by experts, what patients should do, what the pathways are and other explanations
