Group B Strep kills 75 newborns, infects 700 newborns each year in Britain.
NHS does not routinely test for Group B Streptococcus during pregnancy, 9 out of 10 pregnant women have ‘never heard’ about Group B Strep bacteria, I believe this infection should be tested to prevent complications.
If mums was given more information they be prepared and get antibiotics.
I would personally say if I knew more about it and the choice to pay private for the test I would have to prevent this for my daughter and myself.
This infection effected the birth of my first born Sophie and any other pregnancy I choice to have.
If I was given more information about this Infection I could have prevented my daughter traumatic birth, being premature and issues for myself.
Yet, Group B Strep is usually preventable with simple intravenous antibiotic treatment for mum during labour.
