Petition Action

Install EV chargers at all petrol stations to improve adoption of electric cars

Petition Details

The UK’s inadequate Electric Vehicle charging network is deterring motorists from switching to EVs.

If drivers knew that where there’s petrol there’s a charger, they’d be more comfortable with owning an EV.

Let’s install EV chargers at every petrol station to accelerate the switch to electric.

Additional Information

Other benefits of this proposal are:

*Guarantees EV charger network has full UK coverage
*Familiarity of petrol stations will be reassuring to drivers
*Introduces more competitors, which benefits consumers
*More cost effective strategy than roadside/parking bay chargepoints
*Solves many problems that unattended chargepoints have
*Petrol stations remain relevant, jobs are saved
*Oil companies fossil fuel profits go towards fighting climate change
*Utilises petrol retailers knowledge & experience

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

We can't accept your petition because the UK Government and Parliament aren't responsible for the issue you raise. This would be a matter for station owners.

You could start a petition calling for the Government to find more EV charging points across the country, if that's something you'd like to see happen.
