Appropriate Learning and Assessment for pupils with SEN
We are dismayed to learn that the Secretary of State for Education believes that “Every child should expect that they should leave school with at least a C pass in English and mathematics”.
This statement ignores the needs of a whole range of the school population for whom GCSE results are a totally inappropriate measure of achievement and is a cause of concern and anger to those pupils, their parents and carers and to the professionals who work with them."
We demand that the Secretary of State for Education, in consultation with professionals from the SEN field, includes sections in education policy outlining the specific and different learning and assessment needs of all learners with special educational needs including those with severe or profound learning disabilities.
