Petition Details

Recent updates to the gov.uk "Rates and thresholds for employers 2021 to 2022" idndicate that the higher tax threshold will now caputre salaries from £37,701 to £150,000.

Almost a £12,300 difference that will leave employees £205 out of pocket a month (based on salaries over £50,001).

Additional Information

Government committed to locking in income tax rates a part of their tripple lock manifesto commitment. The potential change is disprorptionate and should not be applied.

Recent updates to the gov.uk "Rates and thresholds for employers 2021 to 2022" idndicate that the higher tax threshold will will now caputre salaries from £37,701 to £150,000. A £12,300 difference which will reduce incomes by £205 a month for those with earnings between £37,701 - £50,001 (£50,001 being the previous baseline).

The figures you have cited refer to income above the personal tax allowance, which means that the currently published figures would not reduce the income at which the higher tax rate is paid. These rates are subject to confirmation at the budget.
