Tighter restrictions on the sales & buying of dogs
To cap the price of puppy & dog sales around the UK and provide purchasing paperwork.
There has been an extreme rise in the demand & sales of dogs & puppies, ultimately leading to sky-high prices & the increase in dog theft as a result of this. This will ensure deterrents are actively in place.
Dog owners no longer feel safe to exercise, or even leave their dogs. With a set or capped price it would deter dog theft. Dog owners would no longer have the anxiety that their companion could be potentially part of a lucrative black market money-making scheme. A capped price makes dogs affordable for all, especially those with children or the elderly. Ensuring that all enjoy the companionship that a dog brings to peoples lives. This would also secure Lucy’s Law for puppy farming & importation.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
We understand you are concerned about existing arrangements for the sale and purchase of dogs, however it is not clear how the price cap or "purchasing paperwork" you have suggested would work.
