Petition Action

Lift HGV parking ban in Kent so drivers can have their legally required breaks.

Petition Details

Revoke permission for Kent County Council to introduce new restrictions on HGV parking, which force drivers to choose between taking legally required breaks and rest, or risk a fine of a day's wage.

Additional Information

HGV drivers are required, by law, to take 45 minutes break after 4.5 hours driving and require parking in order to do this. They are also required, by law, to take minimum daily rest periods of at least 9 or 11 hours. Enforcement of the new restrictions from Kent Council and the Department for Transport is making this impossible.
