Petition Action

Make the government address national suicide rates and help lower the numbers

Petition Details

Suicide rates continue to increase and yet we have no daily or weekly statistics that shows just how important this issue is. This is another curve that needs to be flattened.

Additional Information

I want our leaders to care, or at the very least, look out for our mental well-being. It needs to be brought up in Parliament and we need to help out those who need our health. I know are MPs are only human too, but if they show that they are trying to help, then we will already be moving in the right direction.

Thank you

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

We understand you're concerned about access to data on the number of deaths by suicide in England.

However, the Office for National Statistics, which reports to Parliament, publishes quarterly data on this, so it's not clear what further action you would like the Government to take. You can read the ONS data here: www.ons.gov.uk/peoplepopulationandcommunity/birthsdeathsandmarriages/deaths/datasets/deathscausedbysuicidebyquarterinengland.

If you or someone you know have considered or been affected by suicide, please consider contacting the Samaritans for support: www.samaritans.org/.
