Require the Smokefree National Helpline be on cigarette and tobacco packaging
The Helpline number should be included on the packaging to increase accessibility to smoking cessation services.
To nudge individuals who need support to stop smoking. The helpline could particularly benefit individuals on low income, travellers, and those with language barriers.
The Government already requires graphic warning images on the packaging and stopped the display of cigarettes in supermarkets.
This may have helped to reduce smoker numbers, but current research shows that there is still room for improvement. Especially in low income and travelling people who may not have access to the internet or other health services.
