Petition Action

illegalise the right for the public to remove or ammend road signs

Additional Information

the highways act currently illegalises amendments to road signs but in their defence is allowed to prove that the road sign was not lawfully placed or does not meet the TRGDR 2002.

this is wrong for two reasons:

1] only local authorities should have exclusive rights to make amendments to road signs that are unlawfully placed.

2] this clause undermines current vandalism legislation in the UK.

this petition is to remove the clause allowing the general public to amend unlawful road signs placed on highways by all local authorities in England, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales.
